People in Macomb County have not had a raise in a long time. People are working harder than ever and prices continue to rise but wages have stagnated. As a State Representative, Bill Sowerby has worked hard to make sure both women and men get a fair shake in this economy. We need an economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy and powerful. Increasing wages and growing jobs is possible if the legislature focuses on the correct policies.
- Bill Sowerby sponsored legislation to increase the minimum wage so that hard working individuals and families receive the wages they deserve (HB 4299)
- Bill cosponsored legislation that repeals the right to work law in Michigan and restores prevailing wage (HBs 4033 and 4884)
- Bill Sowerby cosponsored legislation that increases the Earned Income Tax Credit so that hard working families can keep more of their income (HB 4298)
- Bill supports “Buy Michigan” legislation to support local businesses and ends tax breaks companies get for shipping jobs out of state (HBs 4253 and 5795)
